DUI (Driving Under the Influence)
Everyone knows that drinking and driving is bad news. Unfortunately, it still happens. It is against the law to drive a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. (V C Section 23152)
- If you are under 21 it is illegal to drive a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .01 or higher.
- If you are 21 or older, it is illegal to drive a vehicle with a BAC of .08 or higher.
- Police can pull you over and arrest you with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .04 or higher with reasonable cause.
Fines and Legal Consequences
The approximate financial cost of a DUI in Yolo County can total between $10,000 - $15,000. The cost can include a DUI fine, insurance increase, lawyer fee, DUI class, donation to the Drunk Driving Victims Fund, booking fee and more.
Even if you’re lucky enough not to hurt anyone else, paying for your mistake is not limited to your finances. Many potential employers ask whether you have a criminal record. Your DUI arrest could prevent you from getting that great job.
